Program Director – Sahel Region

About the role

The Program Director will lead IFDC’s talent roster for the Sahel region, shaping the vision, strategy and impact of seed system strengthening initiatives across multiple countries.

Key responsibilities

• Define and oversee the program’s vision, mission, and long‑term strategy for strengthening seed systems in the Sahel.
• Ensure alignment with regional agricultural policies and donor priorities.
• Develop annual work plans, budgets, and performance targets.
• Supervise technical, operational, and administrative functions of the program.
• Lead Deputy Directors, technical teams, and country coordinators.
• Represent the program to governments, donors, and international organizations.
• Build and maintain partnerships with donors, ministries, research institutes, NGOs, and private sector actors.
• Advocate for policies that enable seed sector growth.
• Ensure financial accountability and donor compliance.
• Oversee robust M&E systems to track seed adoption and impact.
• Promote evidence‑based decision‑making and adaptive learning.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to climate change, political instability, and market fluctuations.
• Participate in consortium and donor coordination meetings and represent the program in regional forums.
