Space Applications Expert – Earth Observation & Copernicus

About the role

We are seeking a highly qualified Space Applications Expert to support the development, deployment and uptake of Earth Observation (EO) services and applications, particularly those based on Copernicus data, to address key development, climate and environmental priorities across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver EO services and applications using Copernicus products.
• Support the implementation of solutions in early‑warning, climate monitoring, environmental management, agriculture, water resources and biodiversity.
• Facilitate knowledge exchange and capacity building with African institutions and stakeholders.
• Contribute to policy dialogue and promote private‑sector engagement in the African space ecosystem.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in geomatics, remote sensing, environmental science, meteorology, engineering or a related field.
• Excellent command of English; working knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is an asset.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Earth Observation, geospatial services, remote sensing or climate/environmental services.
• At least 4 years of experience designing or delivering EO services using Copernicus data in sectors such as early warning, climate, agriculture, water or biodiversity.
• Experience working with African institutions and promoting user uptake is a plus.
