WASH Officer (NO-2) – Temporary Position

About the role

The WASH Officer (NO-2) supports UNICEF’s water, sanitation and hygiene programmes in Somaliland. Reporting to the WASH Specialist, the officer provides technical, operational and administrative assistance to ensure effective delivery of drinking water, sanitation infrastructure and related hardware projects.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and update WASH situation analyses and sector trend reports to guide programme planning.
• Prepare accurate technical reports and documentation for programme preparation, monitoring and evaluation.
• Contribute to the development of WASH outcomes, outputs and strategies based on sector needs.
• Provide technical and administrative support throughout the programme cycle, ensuring compliance with UNICEF processes.
• Conduct field visits, surveys and share findings with partners, highlighting bottlenecks and risks.
• Support government counterparts, NGOs and UN partners on UNICEF policies, strategies and WASH best practices.
• Draft requisitions for supplies, services and partnership agreements to support emergency preparedness.
• Maintain knowledge of UNICEF emergency response procedures and assist in emergency response and early recovery as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Engineering‑Civil or a related field.
• Relevant experience in WASH programme implementation, preferably in humanitarian contexts.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government, NGOs and UN partners.
