Legal Counsel

About the role

Wave is building a cashless Africa and needs a senior legal professional to safeguard its growth. As a Legal Counsel you will support the Mali legal team, advise operational units, and ensure compliance with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate contracts across all business areas, aligning them with company objectives.
• Lead high‑value contract negotiations and implement contract management tools.
• Develop and update group legal policies, including data privacy and contract policies.
• Design procedures for handling legal claims, mediation, arbitration and litigation.
• Provide employment law support for contracts, disciplinary actions and terminations.
• Oversee company secretarial duties in coordination with regulatory affairs.
• Collaborate with risk management to identify and mitigate legal risks.

Required profile

• Senior legal experience, preferably in fintech or financial services.
• Strong ability to provide clear, business‑oriented legal advice.
• Proven track record in contract negotiation and legal operations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
