Head of Programmes

About the role

The Head of Programmes will lead the development, implementation and monitoring of Welthungerhilfe’s multi‑annual country programme in Mali, ensuring strategic alignment with the organisation’s vision of Zero Hunger by 2030.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the country programme’s direction by identifying strategic contributions based on community priorities, partner knowledge and contextual evidence.
• Lead the development of a prioritized funding pipeline, from opportunity identification to proposal design and submission.
• Build and sustain relationships with donors, institutional partners and consortium members, translating conversations into concrete collaborations.
• Develop substantive partnerships with national and local organisations, ensuring their knowledge influences programme choices.
• Maintain programme quality, technical coherence and learning by using MEAL findings and community feedback.
• Develop and deploy shared technical capacity, allocating support according to programme needs and complexity.
• Connect programme ambitions with operational and financial feasibility together with the Heads of Operations and Finance.
• Build trust and strengthen national leadership through coaching, clear expectations and accountable decision‑making.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field.
• Relevant regional experience in the Sahel region.
• Systems and programme‑thinking approach.
• Donor experience with ECHO, BMZ, GFFO and ideally KfW.
• Strong proposal and report writing skills.
• Excellent communication in French and English.
