Head of Programmes

About the role

Welthungerhilfe is seeking a Head of Programmes to lead the development and implementation of its multi‑annual country programme in Mali. Reporting to the Country Director, you will shape strategic direction, mobilise resources and ensure programme quality.

Key responsibilities

• Define the programme’s strategic direction in partnership with the Country Director, using community priorities and partner insights.
• Lead the creation of a prioritized funding pipeline, from opportunity identification to proposal development and submission.
• Build and sustain relationships with donors, institutional partners and consortium members, translating discussions into concrete collaborations.
• Develop partnerships with national and local organisations, ensuring their knowledge influences programme choices.
• Maintain technical coherence, quality monitoring and learning through MEAL findings and community feedback.
• Strengthen national leadership by coaching staff, delegating responsibility and fostering a culture of accountability.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field.
• Relevant regional experience in the Sahel.
• Systems and programme‑thinking approach.
• Donor experience with ECHO, BMZ, GFFO and preferably KfW.
• Strong proposal and report writing skills.
• Fluent in French and English.
