Deputy Program Director – Operations (Sahel Region)

About the role

The Deputy Program Director – Operations will support the Program Director in delivering IFDC’s seed‑system strengthening agenda across the Sahel region. This senior position ensures that operational plans align with IFDC’s mission, donor requirements and local regulations while driving efficient implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Translate strategic goals into actionable operational plans and ensure compliance with donor (e.g., Dutch Embassy) and IFDC policies.
• Coordinate and manage a multi‑country program team, supervising day‑to‑day operations.
• Oversee seed‑system development activities, including support for seed enterprises, cooperatives and farmer organisations.
• Monitor progress against targets such as seed availability, adoption rates and farmer income growth.
• Manage procurement, supply chains and logistics to guarantee timely delivery of inputs and services.
• Handle office administration, security and maintenance in program countries.
• Optimize operational efficiency through improved systems and processes.
• Track program performance, prepare donor reports and identify risks with mitigation strategies.
• Represent the program in meetings, conferences and consortium management sessions.
• Strengthen partnerships with donors, NGOs and government ministries.

Required profile

• Proven experience coordinating multi‑country agricultural programs and overseeing operational activities.
• Strong knowledge of seed‑system development, procurement and logistics in developing‑country contexts.
• Ability to ensure compliance with local laws, donor requirements and organizational policies.
• Excellent communication skills for representing the program with partners, donors and consortium members.
