Deputy Program Director – Operations (Sahel Region)

About the role

The Deputy Program Director – Operations will support the Program Director in translating strategic goals into actionable plans to strengthen seed systems across the Sahel region. This senior role ensures alignment with IFDC’s mission, donor requirements, and local regulations while overseeing day‑to‑day program activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Program Director in converting strategic objectives into operational plans.
• Ensure program activities comply with IFDC policies, donor requirements (e.g., Dutch Embassy), and local laws.
• Coordinate and manage the multi‑country program team and supervise daily operations.
• Oversee seed system development, including support for seed enterprises, cooperatives, and farmer organizations.
• Monitor progress against targets such as seed availability, adoption rates, and farmer income growth.
• Manage procurement, supply chains, and logistics to ensure timely delivery of inputs and services.
• Oversee office administration, security, and maintenance in program countries.
• Optimize operational efficiency through improved systems and processes.
• Track program performance and prepare reports for donors and stakeholders.
• Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Represent the program in meetings, conferences, and public forums.
• Strengthen partnerships with donors, NGOs, and government ministries.
