Area Manager – Mali (Mopti region)

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead programme implementation in the Mopti region of Mali. You will ensure high‑quality, cost‑effective delivery of multi‑sector humanitarian interventions, with a focus on cash‑based and market‑based programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide an enabling environment for cash‑based interventions and identify new opportunities for market‑based programmes.
• Represent NRC in local coordination forums, cash‑based coordination platforms and stakeholder meetings.
• Strengthen collaboration with decentralized technical and administrative authorities, ensuring compliance with NRC policies.
• Facilitate clear and timely communication between the Country Office and the Area Office.
• Oversee integration of NRC interventions to ensure coherence with the Country Strategy.
• Maintain and improve access to programme areas while upholding humanitarian principles.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in humanitarian or recovery programmes, including at least 3 years in senior management.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑sector programmes in complex, fragile environments.
• Experience with cash and market‑based programming, risk management, compliance and accountability.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills, capable of building and motivating diverse teams.
