Area Manager – Humanitarian Programs (Mali, Mopti)

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead high‑quality, cost‑effective programme implementation in the Mopti region of Mali. You will ensure that cash‑based and market‑based interventions are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with NRC policies and humanitarian principles.

Key responsibilities

• Provide an enabling environment for cash‑based interventions and identify new opportunities for market‑based programmes.
• Represent NRC in cash‑based coordination platforms and local coordination forums.
• Strengthen collaboration with decentralized technical and administrative authorities, ensuring full compliance with NRC policies.
• Facilitate clear, timely communication between the Country Office and the Area Office.
• Integrate NRC interventions to ensure coherence, complementarity, and alignment with the Country Strategy.
• Enhance access to programme areas through sustained stakeholder engagement while upholding humanitarian principles.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in humanitarian or recovery programmes, including at least 3 years in senior management.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑sector programmes in complex, fragile, and volatile environments.
• Demonstrated success in achieving programme objectives through effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and team leadership.
• Experience in cash and market‑based programming, including risk management, compliance, and accountability.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills, with a track record of building and motivating diverse teams.
