Area Manager – Humanitarian Programs (Mopti, Mali)

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead high‑quality, cost‑effective humanitarian programmes in Mopti, Mali. You will oversee cash‑based and market‑based interventions, ensure compliance with NRC policies, and strengthen coordination with local authorities and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide an enabling environment for cash‑based interventions and identify new market‑based programme opportunities.
• Represent NRC in cash‑based coordination platforms and local coordination forums.
• Strengthen collaboration with decentralized technical and administrative authorities, ensuring full policy compliance.
• Facilitate clear, timely communication between the Country Office and the Area Office.
• Integrate NRC interventions to ensure coherence, complementarity, and alignment with the Country Strategy.
• Enhance NRC’s access to intervention areas through sustained stakeholder engagement while upholding humanitarian principles.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in humanitarian or recovery programmes, including at least 3 years in senior management.
• Proven track record managing multi‑sector programmes in complex, fragile, and volatile environments.
• Experience delivering results through effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and team leadership.
• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities to build and motivate diverse teams.
• Demonstrated expertise in stakeholder engagement and representation.
