Deputy Representative Operations (P-5) – Fixed Term, Bamako

About the role

The Deputy Representative Operations will support the Representative in leading UNICEF Mali’s operational functions. This senior position ensures efficient administration, finance, digital impact, risk management and supply chain activities to deliver results for children.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Officer‑in‑Charge in the Representative’s absence and provide overall leadership for the office.
• Oversee administration, budget, finance, digital impact, supply chain and risk management to ensure compliance and safety.
• Promote staff development through career planning, stretch assignments and succession planning.
• Contribute to Country Programme Documents (CPD, CPMP, AMP) and results‑based management using value‑for‑money criteria.
• Drive digital innovations and adopt tools that enhance programme delivery.
• Lead internal and external audit processes, address observations and monitor implementation of recommendations.
• Guide supply and logistics strategies to support programme implementation.

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience in operations management within international development or UN contexts.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and act as a strategic business partner.
• Strong understanding of risk, governance, and results‑based management frameworks.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
