Health Specialist – Immunization

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Health Specialist to provide technical assistance for immunization programmes across Somalia, with a focus on Central‑South regions. The role supports the development and implementation of work plans that align with national health goals and contributes to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and align immunization work plans with national health targets in collaboration with Child Survival, Maternal and Child Health, and Nutrition teams.
• Support five field offices, especially Central‑South Somalia, to strengthen routine immunization and respond to cVDPV2 outbreaks and other vaccine‑preventable diseases.
• Promote gender equality by ensuring gender‑disaggregated data collection, identifying disparities, and supporting gender mainstreaming.
• Provide technical support and capacity‑building to government staff, NGOs, and partners throughout programme cycles.
• Monitor and evaluate programme implementation, adjust plans as needed, and ensure timely delivery of results.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in immunization programme management, public health, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government ministries, NGOs, and international partners.
• Strong analytical skills for sectoral analysis and integration of sex‑disaggregated data.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
