Deputy Representative Operations (P-5) – Fixed Term, Bamako

About the role

The Deputy Representative Operations supports the Representative in leading UNICEF’s operational functions in Mali. This senior position ensures efficient administration, finance, digital impact, procurement and risk management, contributing to the delivery of results for children.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Officer‑in‑Charge in the Representative’s absence and provide strategic leadership for the office.
• Oversee administration, budgeting, finance, digital tools, procurement and risk management to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Promote staff development through career planning, stretch assignments and succession planning.
• Represent the organization on the Country and Senior Management Teams, bringing a risk‑aware and results‑based perspective.
• Identify operational challenges, propose value‑for‑money solutions and ensure quality assurance.
• Drive digital innovation and manage external and internal audit processes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior operational management within international development or humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex budgets.
• Strong understanding of risk management, governance and results‑based management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
