Deputy Plant Manager

About the role

The Deputy Plant Manager supports the Plant Manager in driving daily operational excellence across all plant functions. This role ensures production, quality, cost, safety and delivery targets are met while maintaining strict adherence to processes, systems and KPIs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily operations across Production, Quality, Maintenance, PPC, Stores, Dispatch, HR and EHS.
• Monitor and drive key plant KPIs such as Production Plan vs Actual, OEE, Line Efficiency, Quality, Downtime, Inventory, Dispatch and Safety.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective and preventive actions promptly.
• Ensure compliance with production schedules, quality standards, process procedures and equipment availability.
• Drive productivity, cost reduction and continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S and TPM.
• Oversee material availability, inventory control, warehouse performance and dispatch execution.
• Maintain EHS compliance, conduct safety audits and close incidents effectively.
• Act as Plant Head during the Plant Manager’s absence, ensuring seamless operations.
• Utilise SAP ERP/S4HANA modules (PP, MM, QM, PM, WM/EWM) for production, inventory, quality and maintenance management.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
• 10–15 years of experience in Automotive, EV, Two‑Wheeler or manufacturing environments.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing cross‑functional manufacturing operations.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and decision‑making abilities.
• Data‑driven, hands‑on approach with a strong shop‑floor presence.
