Deputy Director of Finance

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Deputy Director of Finance to join its senior management team in Bamako, Mali. This senior leader will ensure the country program has robust financial infrastructure, compliance, and analytical capacity to support IRC’s strategic vision and humanitarian operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial planning and rigorous analysis to support program and operational decisions.
• Lead policy development and management of all finance and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with U.S., local, and donor regulations.
• Oversee strategic and operational finance, maintaining adherence to IRC’s financial control standards.
• Collaborate closely with the Country Director and other Deputy Directors (Programs, Operations, People & Culture) to drive performance across internal policies and procedures.
• Develop and implement solutions to emerging financial challenges, supporting effective program implementation.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in finance management, preferably within an international NGO or humanitarian context.
• Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Deep understanding of U.S. and local financial legislation, donor compliance, and financial control standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
