Country Coordinator – Mali (Sahel Region)

About the role

The Country Coordinator will lead IFDC’s program implementation in Mali, ensuring activities align with the overall vision and strategic objectives of the Sahel Region portfolio. This role requires close collaboration with consortium partners, donors, and local stakeholders to achieve measurable impact for smallholder farmers.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure in‑country program activities follow the program’s vision and leadership direction.
• Support program leadership and consortium partners in building and managing a strong implementation team.
• Develop and maintain relationships with implementing partners and coordinate synergy across projects.
• Represent the program at meetings, conferences, and public forums to promote achievements.
• Lead regular project management meetings with consortium members and donor embassy representatives.
• Monitor compliance with national sector strategies, policies, and donor requirements.
• Track overall expenditure, private‑sector contributions, and financial compliance with budgets.
• Supervise timely preparation of work plans, progress reports, and financial statements.
• Organize monthly cash‑flow forecasts and request advance funds as needed.
• Monitor project indicators, evaluate results, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure managerial, administrative, and financial procedures meet contract provisions.
• Maintain a desirable budget burn rate and perform other duties assigned by IFDC leadership.

Required profile

• Proven experience in program implementation and coordination within the agricultural or development sector.
• Strong ability to build and sustain partnerships with government, NGOs, and private‑sector actors.
• Experience representing programs in stakeholder meetings and public events.
• Demonstrated competence in financial monitoring, budgeting, and compliance reporting.
• Excellent organizational and reporting skills, with a focus on results and accountability.
