Senior Operations Assistant (Field Support)

About the role

The Senior Operations Assistant (Field Support) supports the movement of migrants and refugees by supervising field‑based operations. Reporting to the Head of PxD and the Associate National Movement Operations Officer, the role ensures smooth airport services, transit‑center assistance, and overall logistics for individuals under IOM’s mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate a team of up to eight field staff across airports, transit centres, camps or sub‑offices.
• Manage airport services, including verification of travel documents, escorting arrivals and departures, and providing special‑needs support.
• Schedule daily work shifts based on Advanced Booking Notifications (ABNs) and ensure staff have necessary IT and power resources.
• Address urgent operational issues and process related financial paperwork in collaboration with IOM management.
• Oversee the flow of individuals and luggage through arrival and departure procedures, tracking flight data, delays and cancellations.
• Organise luggage handling and medical checks, ensuring efficiency and compliance with IOM protocols.

Required profile

• Experience supervising field operations in humanitarian or migration contexts.
• Ability to coordinate teams, manage schedules and provide performance feedback.
• Familiarity with airport formalities, travel documentation and special‑needs assistance.
• Strong organisational skills and capacity to handle urgent issues.
