HME Equipment Specialist (Expatriate)

About the role

The HME Equipment Specialist will support the efficient and reliable operation of heavy mobile equipment (HME) at B2Gold's Fekola mine in Mali. Working on an 8/4 fly‑in‑fly‑out roster, the incumbent will collaborate with the HME team to improve equipment performance, reliability, and the technical capabilities of the local workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Review and recommend improvements to HME maintenance and repair procedures.
• Establish and optimise work‑management systems from planning through execution and continuous improvement.
• Perform maintenance tasks in compliance with statutory, OEM, and safety requirements.
• Assist with forecasting, planning, and HME improvement projects at Fekola.
• Promote preventive maintenance and develop effective work plans with planning resources.
• Design and deliver training programmes for repair and maintenance protocols.
• Coach technicians on maintenance tasks and transfer best‑practice knowledge.
• Identify succession candidates and support employee development plans.
• Follow department protocols to extend equipment life.

Required profile

• Technical diploma in heavy equipment maintenance or a related field.
• Certification from a recognised OEM in equipment maintenance/repairs.
• Minimum 10 years of post‑diploma experience maintaining mine mobile equipment on Caterpillar fleets and Epiroc drills.
• Advanced knowledge of preventive‑maintenance (PM) procedures, tooling, and performance expectations for CAT and Epiroc equipment.

Required skills

• Heavy equipment maintenance on Caterpillar haul trucks, 6020/6040 excavators.
• Experience with Epiroc SmartRoc drills (D65, T45) and DTH models (DM30).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
