Expat Project Manager – West Africa (6‑Month Contract)

About the role

An established mining operation in West Africa seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead brownfield, sustaining and operational projects across a live mine and mineral processing plant. The role is hands‑on, requiring movement between engineering, construction and commissioning while coordinating multidisciplinary contractors and site teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead execution of brownfield and sustaining projects covering structural, mechanical, piping, civil, electrical and instrumentation scopes.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary SMPP/SMEIP interfaces during construction, commissioning and handover.
• Manage contractors, specialist vendors and third‑party consultants, monitoring performance against scope, schedule, quality and safety.
• Develop project scopes, execution plans, schedules and budgets; track progress and mitigate risks.
• Oversee commissioning, punch‑list close‑out and operational handover while ensuring constructability, operability and maintainability.

Required profile

• Significant project delivery experience in mining, mineral processing or heavy‑industrial environments.
• Background in mechanical, civil, structural, SMPP or SMEIP disciplines or a related engineering trade.
• Proven ability to manage brownfield, sustaining capital and operational projects in an operating plant.
• Strong contractor management and HSE leadership in a live production setting.
• Willingness to spend extensive time on‑site; remote mining experience and French language skills are a plus.
