Shift Boss

About the role

The Shift Boss will lead underground development, drill and blast, and haulage crews at Loulo Gold Mine, ensuring safe and efficient operations while upholding Barrick’s core values.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and direct underground crews, assign daily tasks based on the mine plan, and monitor performance.
• Conduct pre‑shift meetings, safety inspections, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Coordinate drilling, blasting, mucking, and haulage to meet production targets and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Oversee ground support installation, ventilation, dewatering, and power systems, and liaise with maintenance for equipment reliability.
• Prepare shift reports, manage handovers, and lead emergency response efforts.

Required profile

• Relevant mining qualification or certification.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in underground mining.
• Strong commitment to safety and ability to foster a positive safety culture.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Understanding of budgeting, performance management, and team development.

Required skills

• Operation of Jumbo Drills, LHDs, and haul trucks.
• Experience with drilling, blasting, and haulage processes.
• Knowledge of ground support methods such as rock bolts, shotcrete, and wire mesh.
• Familiarity with ventilation, dewatering, and power system monitoring.
