Senior Ports and Shipping Specialist

About the role

NTU International is seeking a Senior Ports and Shipping Specialist to provide technical, policy and investment support for maritime and inland waterways projects worldwide. The role will focus on Sub‑Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia‑Pacific, contributing to the Global Gateway Transport and Urban Facility 2 programme.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prepare and implement maritime, port and inland waterways infrastructure projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, project design reviews and investment analyses.
• Support port and logistics master planning, connectivity planning and multimodal transport integration.
• Advise on port infrastructure development, maritime transport services and inland waterways systems.
• Assist with procurement, tendering, implementation supervision, operation and maintenance planning.
• Promote sustainable maritime transport, port decarbonisation, energy efficiency, electrification of port operations and shore‑side electricity.
• Support green port infrastructure, circular‑economy approaches and climate‑resilience measures.
• Contribute to policy, regulatory and institutional reforms and capacity‑building for public and port authorities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent diploma in maritime engineering, maritime sciences, port engineering or transport.
• Extensive experience in maritime, port and inland waterways sectors.
• Proven ability to conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments and investment analyses.
• Experience in port master planning, multimodal transport integration and procurement processes.
