Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Globe 24-7, in partnership with a leading mining company, is looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support across commercial, regulatory, and governance matters in West Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as mining services, procurement, exploration, employment and joint‑venture contracts.
• Ensure contracts comply with local legislation, OHADA regulations and company policies.
• Advise operational and corporate teams on contractual obligations, legal risks and mitigation strategies.
• Manage government affairs, draft position papers, and represent the company with regulators and industry bodies.
• Oversee litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution, coordinating external counsel across jurisdictions.
• Maintain corporate governance compliance, handle board resolutions, statutory records and shareholder matters.
• Provide legal advice on mining legislation, environmental regulations, licensing and permitting.
• Prepare risk assessments, reports and updates for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Qualifying law degree from an OHADA member state.
• Master’s degree in law (LL.M or equivalent) is preferred.
• Significant experience in commercial contracts, government affairs and dispute resolution, preferably within the mining sector.
