About the role

Code for Africa (CfA) is seeking a full‑time Investigative Researcher and Data Analyst / Interpreter Translator to join its Bamako office. The role blends rigorous investigative research with data analysis and translation, turning complex information into clear, actionable stories that support public accountability across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth investigative research, gathering both qualitative and quantitative data.
• Analyse and interpret complex datasets, extracting insights that inform reports and storytelling.
• Translate research findings and data visualisations into clear, multilingual narratives.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary investigative teams to develop data‑driven stories.
• Produce detailed written reports and contribute to public‑facing data visualisations.
• Engage with local communities and stakeholders to ensure findings are relevant and impactful.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in investigative research, data collection and analysis.
• Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to produce clear, detailed reports.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams on data‑driven narratives.
• Fluency in French (or other local languages) is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with data visualisation tools and techniques is a plus.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Bamako and engage directly with local communities.
