International Consultant – Child Protection & GBV in Humanitarian Action

About the role

The International Consultant will provide technical and operational support for the design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) and Gender‑Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) interventions under UNICEF’s Country Programme, Humanitarian Action for Children and Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to UNICEF staff and implementing partners to ensure programme quality and adherence to standards.
• Strengthen inter‑sectoral integration of child protection and GBV risk mitigation across education, health and other relevant sectors.
• Contribute to assessments, situation monitoring, data analysis and the development of work‑plans, donor inputs, budgets and periodic reports.
• Facilitate capacity‑building initiatives for government counterparts and partners.
• Support coordination with sectors such as Education and contribute to related priorities including mine action, Safe‑to‑Learn, community economic empowerment and community‑based child protection systems.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (master’s or higher) in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or a related social science field (or a first degree plus two years relevant experience).
• Minimum five years of professional experience in child protection, GBV, humanitarian response or related fields.
• Demonstrated knowledge of humanitarian standards and experience working in conflict‑ or climate‑affected settings.
