Deputy Representative Operations

About the role

The Deputy Representative Operations supports the UNICEF Representative in leading the country office’s operational functions. This senior position ensures efficient administration, finance, digital impact, supply, and risk management to deliver results for children in Mali.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Officer‑in‑Charge in the Representative’s absence and provide overall leadership for the operations team.
• Oversee administration, budget, finance, digital impact, supply, and risk management functions, ensuring compliance with UNICEF policies and safety standards.
• Promote staff development through career planning, stretch assignments, and succession planning.
• Represent risk and governance perspectives in senior management discussions and drive results‑based management.
• Provide analytical support for CPD, CPMP, AMP and value‑for‑money assessments.
• Lead digital innovation initiatives to improve service delivery and impact measurement.
• Coordinate internal and external audit processes and implement recommendations.
• Guide procurement and logistics strategies to meet programmatic needs while ensuring value for money.

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience in operations management within an international or UN context (P‑5 level).
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and act as senior representative.
• Strong understanding of finance, administration, procurement, risk and digital impact management.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and decision‑making skills.
