Business Development Manager – Mali

About the role

Wave is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive its growth strategy in Mali. Reporting to the WAEMU Head of Business Development, you will build and nurture strategic partnerships that enable Wave’s payment products to scale across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Form, negotiate and manage strategic partnerships with banks, telcos, bill‑payment firms and international remittance companies.
• Build and maintain relationships that allow Wave to operate effectively in Mali.
• Source and secure business partnerships for Wave’s payment solutions.
• Identify and liaise with the appropriate contacts at partner organisations to meet Wave’s needs.
• Supervise communication between partners and internal teams (Product, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Marketing).

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role at a bank, telecom, international remittance firm or fintech.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Secondary‑degree education in Communications, Telecommunications, Finance, International Relations, Business Management or a comparable field.
• Strong network of contacts in Mali’s mobile‑money, banking, telecom or B2B sales sectors.
• Proven ability to engage strategic partners and close mutually beneficial deals.
• Comfortable presenting in boardrooms and preparing onboarding documents in both French and English.
• Enthusiastic about Wave’s mission and able to work autonomously as well as within a team.
