Senior Border Management / Joint Border Post Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a senior expert to support the automation, modernisation and operationalisation of Joint Border Posts (JBPs) across the ECOWAS region. The role will contribute to trade facilitation, corridor efficiency and regional integration by advising on border procedures, customs coordination and digital tools.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and operationalisation of Joint Border Posts and border management systems.
• Provide technical assistance on border procedures, customs coordination and trade facilitation mechanisms.
• Advise on One‑Stop Border Post models, border automation and regional interoperability initiatives.
• Facilitate deployment of digital border management tools and data‑sharing systems.
• Coordinate among customs authorities, border agencies, transport institutions and regional stakeholders.
• Prepare operational procedures, technical guidelines, border assessments and institutional analyses.
• Deliver workshops, technical training and capacity‑building activities.
• Contribute to monitoring, reporting and analytical outputs related to border management and corridor operations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in transport, customs administration, logistics, international trade, public administration or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in border management, customs coordination, trade facilitation or transport logistics.
• At least 7 years of experience specifically with Joint Border Posts, One‑Stop Border Posts or customs coordination.
• Proven experience on transport, trade facilitation or regional integration projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience in international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
