Programme Officer (NO-2) – Temporary Position

About the role

The Programme Officer (NO‑2) will support the Joint Resilience Programme (JRP) in Somalia, a collaborative effort between UNICEF, WFP and FAO aimed at strengthening climate‑resilient livelihoods and reducing humanitarian caseloads. Based in Mogadiscio, the officer will work on a fixed‑term, 11‑month contract to help implement activities in the districts of Dusamareed, Galkayo South, Galkayo North and Galdogob.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordination and monitoring of climate‑resilient livelihood interventions across the four target districts.
• Support data collection, analysis and reporting on programme outcomes, cash‑in‑kind transfers and food security indicators.
• Facilitate collaboration with government ministries, local partners and UN agencies to ensure alignment with the Joint Resilient Action Strategy.
• Contribute to budget tracking, procurement procedures and compliance with UNICEF and donor regulations.
• Prepare situation updates, progress reports and lessons‑learned documentation for donors and senior management.

Required profile

• University degree in International Development, Agriculture, Environment, Economics or a related field.
• Relevant experience in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in climate‑resilience or food‑security contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work in challenging security environments and to travel within Somalia.
• Strong analytical and writing skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of Somali is an advantage.
