Health Specialist – Temporary (364 days)

About the role

UNICEF Somalia is seeking a Health Specialist on a 364‑day fixed‑term contract to support the implementation of the Global Fund health grant, with a focus on malaria and health‑systems strengthening. Reporting to the HSS Manager, Malaria, the incumbent will provide technical guidance, coordinate with partners and ensure results are delivered in line with UNICEF standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in situation analysis, strategic planning and proposal development for the Global Fund malaria and HSS components.
• Define programme goals, objectives and implementation plans using Results‑Based Management (RBM) and prepare documentation for approval.
• Coordinate with UNICEF teams, government authorities, NGOs and other donors to align activities and support partner capacity.
• Set monitoring benchmarks, collect and verify data, and produce performance updates for the Global Fund.
• Participate in M&E exercises, conduct field visits, and prepare analytical reports for programme reviews.
• Ensure compliance with donor rules, budgets and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing health programmes, preferably malaria or health‑systems strengthening, in an international development context.
• Familiarity with Global Fund grant processes and UNICEF’s results‑based management approach.
• Strong ability to work with multi‑sectoral partners and government counterparts.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with experience conducting field assessments.
