Deputy Project Director – MOST Project

About the role

The Deputy Project Director will support Pact’s Senior Manager, Resource Governance & Peacebuilding, in leading the two‑year MOST (Moyens de Subsistance Transformés) project across Mali, Guinea and Senegal. Based in Bamako, you will oversee implementation of activities that promote sustainable artisanal and small‑scale gold mining (ASGM) livelihoods and stabilization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the implementation of MOST activities in Mali, supervising two Pact staff and a local implementing partner (FEMIMA).
• Monitor the institutional, political, commercial and security context of Mali’s gold mining sector on a weekly basis and produce regular reports.
• Develop and maintain relationships with government officials, civil society, mining communities and other stakeholders through regular meetings.
• Coordinate budget monitoring and expense management for the Mali component together with the Finance Coordinator.
• Collect, analyse and report Monitoring & Evaluation data and contribute to annual progress reports.
• Provide technical coaching and support to partners in Guinea and Senegal, including remote guidance and field visits.
• Organise and co‑facilitate trainings and social dialogue workshops on ASGM governance, mercury‑free mining, livelihood strengthening and occupational health & safety.

Required profile

• Significant experience in project management within development or natural resource sectors.
• Strong knowledge of ASGM governance, formalisation processes and responsible mining practices.
• Ability to work in a fluid security environment and travel to remote mining areas.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Fluency in English; French is an asset.
