Agriculture Specialist – 3-year Fixed-term in Bamako

About the role

The World Bank is seeking an Agriculture Specialist to join its Western and Central Africa (AFW) region team in Bamako, Mali. This three‑year fixed‑term position supports the Bank’s mission to promote agricultural development, food security and poverty reduction across 22 countries in West and Central Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advisory and analytical support for agriculture‑related projects and programs.
• Assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of project components, ensuring alignment with World Bank policies and safeguards.
• Coordinate with country teams, government agencies, donors and private sector partners to advance project objectives.
• Contribute to knowledge products, reports and presentations on agricultural trends and best practices.
• Support the preparation of financing proposals and the evaluation of project outcomes.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in agriculture, agronomy, development economics or a related field.
• Relevant professional experience in agricultural development, preferably in West or Central Africa.
• Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural, multi‑disciplinary environment.
