Child Protection & GBV in Emergencies Consultant (5 months)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an International Consultant to provide technical and operational support for Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) and Gender‑Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) interventions in Mali. The 5‑month consultancy will be office‑based in Bamako and will support preparedness, response, coordination and recovery efforts in conflict‑ and climate‑affected regions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to UNICEF staff and implementing partners on CPiE and GBViE standards.
• Strengthen programme quality, ensure adherence to UNICEF and humanitarian standards.
• Support inter‑sectoral integration of child protection and GBV risk mitigation, including coordination with Education and other relevant sectors.
• Contribute to assessments, situation monitoring, data analysis and reporting.
• Assist in developing work plans, donor inputs, budgets and periodic reports.
• Facilitate capacity‑building initiatives for government counterparts and partners.
• Support related priorities such as mine action, Safe to Learn, community economic empowerment and community‑based child protection systems.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (master’s or higher) in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or related social science field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in child protection, gender‑based violence, or humanitarian action.
• Experience working in emergency or conflict‑affected settings, preferably in West Africa.
• Strong analytical, reporting and coordination skills.
